ACUPUNCTURE HELPED ME TO CONCEIVE
"My husband and I had been married three years, and were actively trying for a baby. At 36, I felt time was running out. But nothing was happening. I had an exciting but stressful job, with long hours and lots of foreign travel. When I saw Huw I was emotionally and physically at a very low ebb. I asked him to help recharge my batteries, and the effect was instant even after the first treatment. Slowly, feeling better about life, I began to realize how to manage my workloads and my stress levels, to switch off and feel happy in the moment. I continued to have acupuncture for the next few months, and within a year, I was pregnant! As far as I'm concerned, Huw's genius with needles definitely helped me to start the family I'd been longing for".

"DOCTORS TOLD ME I'D END UP IN A WHEELCHAIR"

When I first met Huw I had Glandular Fever which then became ME. Before I was ill, and subsequently diagnosed, I was 20 years old and a classical ballet dancer and therefore extremely fit and healthy. Once the claws of ME had got into my system I was basically incapable of most activities, even just walking up stairs would exhaust me. I had seen every specialist under the sun and had been told that there was nothing that they could do for me and that I would probably end up in a wheelchair. Huw was the first and only person to say that he could help. Even after the first appointment I felt some improvement overall and over time I started to get the feeling back in my arms and legs. Then my energy levels started to improve. To this day I see Huw when I feel my body starting to send the warning signs. "Thanks to Huw, I have gained a clearer understanding of my body and how it works, an awareness of nutrition and its effect on my body and most of all a profound sense of being alive and living for this very minute".

ACUPUNCTURE FOR HAY FEVER AND ALLERGIC RHINITIS

One 1 hr weekly treatment for 4 weeks Caroline suffered from extreme allergic reaction and 'Hay fever' She would have runny eyes, blocked nose and sneezing. A thick muzzy feeling in her head which could turn into a bad headache and migraine.. She would take Benydril every 5 hours. These symptoms started in May / June time and would persist throughout the summer. Caroline lives in rural Gloucester and has farm land surrounding her house. She did not have these symptoms as a young girl but at the age of 25 after her second child the symptoms began to occur and progressively got worse. Her over all health was, and is good although she felt that she had a slow metabolism which made her feel tired with a tendency to gain weight. The initial acupuncture treatment focused on alleviating the symptoms, boosting the immune system and energising the metabolism. On the second appointment Caroline reported that she felt so much better. That she was down to taking one tablet a day instead of 3 or 4 and that she had gone out into the garden and done the weeding and only when her husband pointed out to her did she realise that she had had no 'hay fever' symptoms! She had not felt as tired and the only negative she could report was a slight itchiness in the mouth in the mornings. On the third treatment she reported back that the itchiness in the mouth had gone, that she hadn't taken a tablet for a week, she wasn't feeling as bloated that she had a lot more energy and that her bad back had gone By the fourth treatment she was sleeping well, previously she would wake up, no symptoms feeling good taking the dog for walks and contemplating really getting into an exercise routine. She was 'hay fever free' even when the farmer next door was cutting the grass for hay and the combines working the corn fields! I look forward to seeing Caroline early next year so that we can boost her immune system with the aim to less reaction a more balanced response to the pollens and dust which created the hay fever symptoms and to minimize the allergic reaction.

MISCARRIAGE IN PREGNANCY
Case Study: How acupuncture and meditation helped Millie to overcome a series of miscarriages before going on to have a successful pregnancy and birth. Millie, first came to my clinic acupuncture clinic in London two years ago, at the time she was a busy personal assistant with a full life, happily married and wanting to start a family. Her problem was that although she could become pregnant she had experienced two consecutive miscarriages in the previous year and she felt that at 36 years old her biological clock was ticking. She had not been receiving any IVF treatment and her doctor could find no logical cause for the miscarriages. She had heard that acupuncture was a possible route to help with her pregnancy Millie contacted me and came to the clinic. She described her dilemma, and in return I outlined the best course of treatment, a combined series of acupuncture, guided visualisation and meditation techniques, and she agreed to have a go. Very quickly Millie she realised that she was 9 weeks pregnant, she had three sessions of acupuncture and now the work really had to begin. The subsequent treatments were designed to support her body to nurture the young foetus and stabilise the uterus womb and placenta. Whilst calming any fears she might have, so that she could continue her daily life as naturally and normally as possible. As Millie says "The pregnancy went very smoothly thankfully and I was able to enjoy it, despite being a little anxious that would I miscarry again, the acupuncture sessions were really very beneficial and I left feeling calm and chilled, reassured and with my mind at rest. Huw was extremely intuitive and without really knowing me, managed to reassure me on a very deep level whilst helping me physically with the pregnancy" It really did the trick and in May 2008 a bonny little boy, entered the world healthy and happy. I recently met up with Millie and was introduced to this active and bright little chap with piercing blue eyes and as Millie said "Thanks for all those treatments, for without the acupuncture Joe might not be here now with us!"

DIAGNOSED WITH MS
Kathy came to the acupuncture clinic with a 'collection' of symptoms which had progressively become worse over the last 5 years. She had been to her doctor, the specialists and the hospital and she was very worried about her health and the worsening symptoms. They included: Insomnia, panic attack type symptoms of anxiety, extreme worry, nervousness and hyper bodily sensitivity, including feelings in the legs of pins and needles and involuntary twitching, numbness on the left hand side of the face, complicated with neck pain and lower back pain, in addition she was extremely tired all the time. Two months before she came to see me her eyesight had suffered a severe attack of migraine which rendered her almost blind for a week. The doctors had done various tests and could find no obvious cause for these symptoms. Eventually She had had an MRI scan which produced no abnormalities but the medical diagnosis was that here symptoms were consistent with MS (multiple sclerosis) and that the tingling in her legs were most likely to be coming from the spine around T3/T4 .the doctor suggested that he thought she may well have MS The diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis was Kathy's worse nightmare for her mother had died of the very same disease. Her first question to me was 'could acupuncture help her?'. And my honest answer was that I have treated MS before with very good results, in one case with total remission of symptoms and return to a full normal life….no wheel chair …no degeneration of muscles and nerves. However each person is different and each person is individual in the root causes and manifestations of their illness. Acupuncture can and does help individuals to regain health and balance on all levels body mind and emotion. The one thing I could reassure her was that acupuncture would. 1. Give her more energy and vitality. 2. Reduce anxiety and stress 3. Improve sleep patterns 4. Make the most of her health. And I believed that if we could do this then her body's natural ability to heal and repair itself would lead to a cessation of the tingling, numbness, twitching and back pain. This would be no miracle cure and would take time. I asked how long had she been suffering from these symptoms and she indicated five years, but on further questioning she admitted that she was a great worrier and anxiety had plagued her all her life and that she always saw the glass half empty not half full. How long would it take? She asked. I had 'no idea' was the reply but give me an initial 6 weeks of weekly treatments and then we would review the situation, see how she was in her self and how the symptoms had changed or not. By the 4th treatment of acupuncture on a 1 hour weekly basis, Jackie had reported back that her sleeping was better, that she had more energy, that the tingling in her legs had diminished and that her back was feeling better. Over all she was feeling more positive. One year on and Kathy is now leading a full life with lots of energy and is symptom free Kathy continues to come for monthly treatment in order to maintain continue to build her health.
