What is Mindfulness meditation

This is a simply learnt method of secular meditation.

Through focusing the mind, with a gentle relaxed concentration, on aspects of the physical bodily sensations, it is possible to change the habitual patterning  and to allow the mind to rest and become more expansive. From this position, the internal stress looses it's grip on the mind and a sense of wellbeing and relaxation result. As the mind relaxes so does the body. The overall effect is for the body/mind continuum  to create and maintain a level of balanced optimum health.

It works in two ways 1. By calming the minds habitual tendencies to ruminate on thoughts and feelings in a circular pattern. (The process of worrying) .2. by defusing the subconscious reactions to percieved threats and turning them into opportunities.

Stress is tightness

Lack of motivation is looseness

Optimum is the balance point in the middle, not too tight not to loose

Mindfulness teaches us to concentrate  just on one thing at a time, with all our mental consciousness. This singularity brings about a huge degree of relaxation through out the rest of the brain and the mind, especially when the task in hand is  simple. So simple in deed that you have to stop yourself from falling asleep.

Acupuncture Based Mindfulness Meditation  (ABMM)

This is the use of mindfulness meditation during an acupuncture session. The first part of the treatment is the diagnosis and the placement of the needles into the patient. The second part, 20-25 mins is a guided mindfulness meditation where the patient learns to totlally relax and and allow the body to regain its natural sense of equilibrium and balance.

This teaches your body and mind with the ancient languages of  the Five Elements, the flow of ‘Chi’ energy,  acupuncture  meridian pathways and points and the wisdom of meditation. the results are profound and lasting.

The mindfulness meditation is advised to be practiced once a day for 8 weeks.

 Positive visualisation

The mind and the way in which we think creates our reality. Our reality is the sum total of our physical body, mental, emotional and spiritual interactions.

It is not what you think but the way in which you think it.

It is not what you say but the way that you say it.

The way you see your self is the way you will be in the future, what ever you believe about yourself  NOW will influence how you

Interact  with life and will direct your future outcomes.

To become aware of your self limiting beliefs and thoughts is the first step in Positively visualising your future.

The first step in becoming aware of how you are doing what you are doing is to Take Time Out.

The best way to do this is to come to this present moment, and the best way to do that is to meditate.

The simplest form of meditation is Mindfulness Practice.

Mindfulness Meditation

  • The mind can only think of ONE thing at a time.
  • Limit your thoughts to one thing. ie.            Your Breathing, or feeling a sensation of a part of the body, or focusing on the flame of a candle, etc
  • This is your anchor your chosen point.
  • Keep bringing your focus of attention back to this chosen point, be aware as your mind drifts off into the habitual pathways.
  • Do not create a dialogue with yourself ,     but be aware of where your mind is!
  • When you drift off gently bring your attention back to the chosen point.
  • By limiting your thoughts activity you are  becoming more present ....into the present moment.
  • By practicing this you become more aware of your self your surroundings, your motivations, your emotions.
  • You become more of a human- Being, in this present moment aware and sensitive.

Acupuncture Based Mindfulness Meditation (ABMM)

There are two aspects to ABMM.

  1. When having an acupuncture session and the needles are inserted into the chosen points for the individual, the practitioner guides the patient into a deep state of relaxation through a mindfulness body scan with the emphasis on maintaining a conscious awareness of all the sensations and feelings of the body
  2. The individual actively choses to 'take time out' to practice either a body scan or a meditation. The focus of attention is supplemented through using the Five Element associations of colour, organ, and meridian pathways. ( the use of Acu-magnets on specific Acu-points can enhance the session).
