Diagnosis & Treatment

When our Qi or Vital energy flowing through out the body is strong and balanced we are well and in optimum health. However, many things both internal and external can prevent that from happening such as poor diet, repeated emotional patterns, over exertion, trauma to name just a few.

Diagnosis

During your first acupuncture consultation a full history of your health and condition is taken in order to identify and establish the underlying cause of disease. Acupuncture diagnosis focuses on the individual person and not just their illness. All symptoms are seen in relation to each other, so,two people with the same western diagnosis could be treated differently with acupuncture, different series of points to achieve the same result.

Treatment

Chinese acupuncture understands that the mind is closely linked to the body, many physical problems experienced by people today are the result of emotional distress as much as any other physical cause. When we are balanced, we feel at home in ourselves, anchored and feeling good in the world. When upheaval and stress through internal or external causes disturbs our balance, our innate organising force is disrupted, defences are weakened and our energy becomes exhausted, or blocked. We lose our way and sense of well being. This in turn conspires to further distortion, stress and anxiety which can ultimately lead to physical or psychological breakdown and illness.

The insertion of very fine, sterile needles into specific points along the meridian pathways, are used to stimulate the flow of subtle energy (Qi) clearing blocked, weak, and imbalanced Qi in the meridian channels and re establishing the circulation of energy which in turn, nourishes and revitalises the whole body, clears and calms the mind and emotions.

Needles are sterile, disposable, single use only. Acupuncture needles are so fine that there is little discomfort when they are inserted, perhaps a slight tingle may be experienced. Moxabustion, electro acupuncture, needle free laser acupuncture, together with relaxation techniques are used when required.

The treatment addresses the root cause of the condition as well as relieving the symptoms. This approach has a more long term effect

How many sessions will I need?

Treatment frequency and length of treatment depends on your individual condition, change may be experienced after two or three sessions others may need longer term treatment.
